I was awakened last night at 10:30 by my boss asking me if I wanted some overtime to go fix a stop sign. Being the model employee I am, I accepted. I asked where it was and he said Mattawa. Not only was it near Mattawa, it was way east and south of Mattawa. We're talking Vernita Bridge deep. A few more miles and I'd be at Hanford. Anyways, he said that there was a hay fire in the area and I shouldn't be alarmed if I saw it. The fire happened to be across the street from the stop sign. It was neat to see. It didn't make a lot of sound, but it was hot! No firefighters were to be seen, so I assumed they figured they'd let it burn out (which they usually do with hay fires).
The sign took about five minutes to fix and I was on my way home. Got back into bed just before 2 am. I am tired today, but the extra money will be worth it.
(In comparison, last night I accidentally burned up a napkin and let it smolder for around 42 minutes. Inside. Light smoke billowed throughout my apartment while I watched Person Of Interest and glared at the stove, which I thought contained the fire.)
